Stamped Air-Dry Clay Ornaments

Hi there! Today, I did a fun project with my crafty friend, which is pretty rare these days with a 4 month old! During little ones nap, I got my clay out in hopes to make some handmade ornaments. I bought the white air-dry clay to make little baby handprints, which we eventually got to, but while waiting for baby to wake up, we had fun experimenting with different kind of stamping. I found some ideas on this fun blog while searching on Pinterest.
I brought out some stamps, but the using real cedar branches was so fun! I used a brayer, but a rolling pin works fine! For the ornament shape, i used a cookie cutter, but since I didn't have a circle, I used a cup and an exacto knife like it's shown above. They should take 2-3 days to dry... just don't forget to make your string/hook hole before they do!  I can't wait to hang them in the tree!

Big Paper Bows

This was a fun one! How do you wrap a big akward gift?! With a giant bow of course!

Last year I reclaimed a bunch of science lab high stools and spray-painted them various colours for my wonderful teacher friends. This was for Mme Emilie's birthday... So of course it needed a giant bow! Here's the tutorial I found on pinterest. I had made a smaller version with scrapbooking paper before, but not one this big. I ended up using wrapping paper to get a fun pattern. It turned out so well!

Reclaimed Foam Chair

Hi again! Here's a little project I did last Spring. My husband found this fuzzy purple Tinkerbell chair on our buy nothing group, hoping that I could make a new cover for it... Challenge accepted! Man this wasn't easy. I took the fuzzy purple cover apart and cut all new pieces with the sage green fabric and Bambi accent. Turned out so well, matches with little one's room AND we got to recycle a chair! Woot!

For those who use a Cricut, here is the link to the project: Mini Leaf Garland. I also have a print and cut version that I used for my classroom a couple years back: Fall leaf Garland (print and cut)

Easter Mantel

Hi there! Easter is just around the corner so I decided to finish decorating my mantle this afternoon. This year, I added a little egg garland, since I had egg cutouts left over from my classroom decorations. Looks great with our usual bunny sculpture and bunny print. Hooray!

If you'd like to make a little garland too, it's so simple! You'll need thread, glue and egg cut-out! That's it!

Kawaii Shrink Art

Hey again! I had a pretty fun time organizing crafts for my coworker's very crafty daughter's birthday party. She had her birthday party yesterday and wanted some crafts that weren't too "childish". We made some sweet Unicorn Dreamcatchers but I wanted another project they could do afterwards that didn't involve as many materials, so I went to my go-to Shrink Art that kids ALWAYS love. I get the clear stuff from DeSerres and sand it a little to be able to use colouring pencils on them. The kids LOVED this project. I found a bunch of Kawaii (cute japanese) images on-line and then they trace it onto their piece of Shrink Art! We had everything from kawaii cupcakes, pandas, unicorns, you name it! Just search ________ Kawaii on-line and you'll find adorable images. Then, we added a little metal jump hoop and a key-ring and turned them into keychains after! Hooray!

Materials: coloring pencils, x-thin black sharpies, scissors, key-rings, hole puncher, metal jump hoop, key-ring and Shrink Art (or Shrinky Dinky, found at you local craft store).

Instructions:
① Draw your image on the rough side of your Shrink Art piece. if it's the clear stuff, place your favorite image underneath and trace it!
② Trace the outline with a black sharpie.
③ Cut your shape out and punch a hole. *Don't forget this step. It'll be impossible to do once it's shrunken and thicker.
④ Bake at 325°F for 2 minutes, until completely shrunken and FLAT
⑤ String it onto a key-ring, earrings, a necklace, whatever you like!
Watching it Shrink!
Tracing onto the Shrink Art plastic
All shrunken and adorable!!!

Unicorn Dreamcatchers

Hey ya'll! I had a pretty fun fun time organizing some crafts for my coworker's very crafty daughter. She had her birthday party yesterday and wanted some crafts that weren't too "childish". So I went to my go-to Shrink Art that kids ALWAYS love. I get mine from DeSerres and sand it a little to be able to use colouring pencils on them. I also wanted to find a special project that would take a while to make and that I can't do with a large number of student in a classroom (a little guilty pleasure). After some research of Pinterest, I found some Unicorn Dreamcatchers. I was a bit reluctant since it is a traditional aboriginal craft, but I made sure to tell the kids the background info on it and told them it wasn't a real one.

They turned out so great!

Happy New Year Banner!

Hi there! We are having a few friends over for new year's eve tonight and I thought that I would play around my my Cricut and make a banner. I usually make little triangle pennant banners, so I thought I'd try something new, something I could only do with the Cricut... so I decided to make some detailed cursive words, after getting some inspiration from Pinterest. I used the "Babette" cricut font for the words and "Padigton regular" for the numbers.

Loved how it turned out!

My Cricut in action!
Made two copies of the words, so that I could sandwich
the string in-between the 2 layers.
Gluing my string with Tacky glue
So pretty over the Mantle and fireplace!
